    Hugh, or as his fans know him 'THE PHOENIX', made his tour debut in early 2014 at the £300 Brunel University Open. It was a pretty good debut, making it through to the R16. Some say due to his skill, others put it down to a bunny draw!! As part of Team Ebbisham, now known as the 'Ebbisham Warriors', he travelled the length and breadth of the country during his first season. From Surrey - Manchester, Essex - Cirencester, he even made the trip to Belgium for only his 2nd tournament. Highlights of his year included Semi-Final appearances in Windsor & Roehampton (Rally 4 Bally), and running the first ever night tournament at Ebbisham Sports Club. All of this with a detached ligament in his hip! (An old injury waiting to be fixed.) This led to him being nicknamed 'The Cripple' in his first season! (Still manages to finish the year at World No.17!) In December 2014 'The Cripple' went under the knife, which meant he was out for the first 7 months of the 2015 season. That didn't stop him, as he became a founding member of the ATTP (Association of touchtennis Professionals) Media Team, and the self-appointed chairman of the touchtennis Wine Club. Recruiting anyone he could to join him on the sidelines. If you can't play, it's one way to occupy the time!! 'The Cripple' gave way to 'The Phoenix' at his first tournament back, The La Manga Club Masters, where he made the Semi-Finals. The other players on tour ran in fear!! The successful return however didn't last long, as the reality of his new lower ranking meant he kept getting cuffed by the likes of Elliott Mould early doors. The 2015 season did finish on a high for The Phoenix as he qualified, alongside Gareth Richman, for 'The Masters Cup' doubles. Even making it out of their group, beating 'The GOAT' en route! What does 2016 hold for The Phoenix?! The biggest goal is to play a whole season injury free whilst still having an absolute ball on court. Aside from that, it would be nice to make 'The Masters Cup' in singles, having so narrowly missed out in 2014...
